I bought this book and the author's other book, Introduction to Fun Dutch Oven Cooking, as a gift for our son who is an active Scouter and camper. I haven't mailed them yet because I keep thumbing through them, planning to use the recipes myself--in my kitchen. The recipes in this cookbook are outstanding--there are dishes that will appeal to whomever you are feeding. Because the author is a Boy Scouter, he has included many recipes that will definitely appeal to kids of all ages, as you can see if you browse the index. I tried the "Bubble and Squeak" in my oven at home and it was delicious. (Because he gives the temperature for the Dutch oven, it's pretty easy to convert the recipes for non-campers.) For campers, the author assumes that you are new to this cooking style, especially in the introductory book. He explains everything you need to know in an easy to understand way. For each recipe he tells how many coals should go under the oven and how many on top. You can't get much plainer than that. This is a great little book for campers, Scouters, or backyard cooks.Product details
